The Postal Code Conversion File (PCCF) provides the correspondence between the six character code and Statistics Canada's standard geographical areas (e.g. Census divisions, Census subdivisions, Federal Electoral Districts) for which census data and other statistics are produced. The latest version of the PCCF [at time of writing] links over 787,000 postal code records, created up to the end of November 2001, to the geographical areas used in the 1996 Census and to Universal Transverse Mercator System (UTM) coordinates and latitude/longitude coordinates. This version contains a new field called the single postal code indicator; this field will be useful in cases where a given postal code is assigned to multiple standard geographic areas. It indicates which of the standard geographic units is the most representative of the postal code.
Access: restricted to University of Toronto faculty, students, and staff for academic research and teaching purposes.PCCF web page
The Postal code population weight file has been created as a supplementary product to the PCCF. It provides users with a population 'weight' for postal codes with multiple links on the PCCF. The weight associated with each record on the Postal code population weight file represents the proportion of the population reporting the postal code with a specific enumeration area. This file can be used in combination with the PCCF to identify those postal code to enumeration area links confirmed by census reported postal code data.Documentation and Data
Access to data: restricted to University of Toronto faculty, students, and staff for academic research and teaching purposes.
The Postal code/1996 federal riding file is a digital file which provides a link between the six character postal code and Canada's federal ridings. The current version of the file links 701,002 postal code records, existing as of May 1998, to the 301 federal ridings. The file was conceived as a tool for use with administrative files containing postal codes. By using the postal code as a link, data from administrative files may be organized and/or tabulated by federal riding. Using this tool, federal government departments will be able to respond more quickly and easily to MP's requests for information about their ridings.
Access: restricted to University of Toronto faculty, students, and staff for academic research and teaching purposes.

Maps show census divisions and census subdivisions for all provinces and territories and also displays census metropolitan areas and census agglomerations.
The maps for each of the census metropolitan areas and census agglomerations in this series show boundaries, attribute information (census metropolitan area and census agglomeration names, census subdivision names and types, designated place names and census tract names) and base map information (streets, rivers, lakes, railroad tracks and other significant features). Boundaries are shown for census tracts, census subdivisions, urban core, urban fringe and rural fringe. Representative points for designated places are also shown.
In Canada, there are 52,993 dissemination areas defined for the 2001 Census. Together, there are three map series to cover all of Canada.
There are 6,154 maps in this set-generally one map per census tract. Maps show Dissemination area (DA), census tract (CT), census subdivision (CSD), and census metropolitan area (CMA) or census agglomeration boundaries on a background of detailed street networks and other visible features such as rivers and lakes. There are 6,154 maps in this set-generally one map per census tract. Map scales vary according to the size of census tract.
There are 6,154 maps in this set-generally each one covers one census agglomeration (CA) and shows the boundaries and codes of dissemination areas within that CA. The maps also show the boundaries of census subdivisions (municipalities) , as well as urban areas, and representative points for designated places. The maps include background information such as rivers, lakes, railroad tracks and provincial boundaries, and other significant features. The maps vary in scale and size.
There are approximately 1000 maps in this set-generally two or more maps per census division. Each map shows the boundaries and codes of dissemination areas within that CD. The maps also show the boundaries of census subdivisions, census metropolitan areas and census agglomerations, as well as urban areas and representative points for designated places. Include background information such as rivers, lakes, railroad tracks and provincial boundaries, and other significant features. Maps vary in scale and size.
