| AGGREGATE DATA | |
| Search aggregate data tables | |
| Population and dwelling counts | Note: Enumeration area level count of population and dwellings. |
| Nation series | Most volumes available as a print products. Some historic data available in 1996 Nation series files. |
| Dimensions series | Available as a print products only in 1991. |
| Profile files | Profile files contain aggregate statistics in the form of the number of responses (i.e., univariate frequencies) for all variables collected on the two census questionnaires (short form or 2A, and long form or 2B), at various levels of geography, including small areas (census tracts and enumeration areas). |
| Basic summary tabulations | BST files contain aggregate statistics consisting of approximately 60 cross-tabulations of two or more variables (i.e., multivariate distributions), for census subdivisions (CSDs), enumeration areas (EAs), and census tracts (CTs). Each table deals with a specific characteristic of the Canadian population either as individuals or in their family or household relations, or with a characteristic of Canadian dwellings. The BSTs include information on the following areas: families, housing, dwelling, language, demography, education, ethnic origin, immigration, income, labour force participation, place of work and religion. |
| MICRODATA | |
| Public use microdata files | Three public use microdata files were produced from the 1991 census. Each is based on a different unit of observation: individuals, families, or households and housing. The files contain a random sample of anonymized records from the 2B (long form) census questionnaires. |
| SPATIAL AND REFERENCE FILES | |
| Spatial Files | Spatial or digital map files include: Digital boundary files, Digital cartographic files, Skeletal street network files, and Street network files. These files contain vector-based digital map files in formats readable by common GIS software packages. |
| Reference Files | Reference files include: Block-face data file, Enumeration Area correspondence file, Geography attribute file, Postal code conversion file, and Place name master file. |
| Reference maps | Reference maps that show the geographic areas designated by standard census geographic codes. |
| OTHER | |
| Census of agriculture | Tables from the 1991 Census of agriculture, at the census division (CD) or census consolidated subdivision (CCS) level. |
